Skate KC Canceled

Based on the current state of emergency related to COVID-19, Kansas City Figure Skating Club has made the difficult decision to cancel Skate Kansas City. Independence Community Ice Rink has also decided to close through April 5. 

 

Thank you to all of you for registering for 2020 Skate Kansas City, we were looking forward to seeing all of you in three weeks. In the coming days the LOC will be looking at the possibility of rescheduling the competition. If we are unable to reschedule or if you are unable to attend on the rescheduled date, refunds will be issued to you.

 

For those of you who booked hotel rooms using the competition room blocks we had available, both the Hilton Garden Inn and Stoney Creek Hotel and Conference Center are aware of the situation. If you booked with the Hilton Garden Inn (800-774-1500) you will need to reach out to them to cancel your room. If you booked through the Stoney Creek room block your room will automatically be cancelled today and you will be issued a refund if applicable.


Spring Skating Components & Spins Workshop

The Midwest Figure Skating Council is hosting the Spring Skating Components & Spins Workshop, April 18-19, 2020, at Line Creek Community Center Ice Arena, 5940 NW Waukomis Drive, Kansas City, MO.

  • Participants must be Learn to Skate USA Freeskate 5 / ISI Freestyle 4 and above
  • Groups will be divided by Moves in the Field Test and competitive level 

Approximate Workshop times: 

  • Mini Camp Saturday 8:00-9:30am 
  • Full Workshop Saturday 8:00am - 1:00pm & Sunday 10:00am-1:00pm
  • Private Lesson time will be available after the close of registration

Union Station Holiday Kickoff Features Local Skaters!

KCFSC member Sarah Arnold and local coach Bonnie Weinberg will be skating at Union Station in the Holiday Kickoff Lighting Ceremony!  The ceremony will feature a breathtaking performance by Quixotic on Saturday, November 23 at approximately 6:00 pm.  Plan to join us and support your fellow skaters.

Good Luck Regionals Competitors!

 

Best of luck to our 2020 Southwestern Regional and Nine States competitors!  The regional even will be held at The Broadmoor World Arena October 17-20, in Colorado Springs, CO.  

 

Lexi will be competing in Excel Juvenile Plus. Fiona & Sophie will compete in Novice Ladies, and Rachel will compete in Senior Ladies.

MEMBERSHIP REMINDERS: 

  1. Skaters – Any skater who has not renewed their membership by June 30, 2019, will not be allowed to test, compete, or participate in club activities until the renewal/signup is completed.
  2. Coaches, Officials and Board Members – All of these membership types need to be renewed and have completed the necessary U.S. Figure Skating requirements to be in compliance with the U.S. Figure Skating SafeSport policy by June 30, 2019.  Any coach, official or board member who has not completed the necessary requirements will not be allowed to participate in any club activities, club ice, test sessions, or at competitions until this is completed.
