Skate KC Canceled

Based on the current state of emergency related to COVID-19, Kansas City Figure Skating Club has made the difficult decision to cancel Skate Kansas City. Independence Community Ice Rink has also decided to close through April 5.

Thank you to all of you for registering for 2020 Skate Kansas City, we were looking forward to seeing all of you in three weeks. In the coming days the LOC will be looking at the possibility of rescheduling the competition. If we are unable to reschedule or if you are unable to attend on the rescheduled date, refunds will be issued to you.

For those of you who booked hotel rooms using the competition room blocks we had available, both the Hilton Garden Inn and Stoney Creek Hotel and Conference Center are aware of the situation. If you booked with the Hilton Garden Inn (800-774-1500) you will need to reach out to them to cancel your room. If you booked through the Stoney Creek room block your room will automatically be cancelled today and you will be issued a refund if applicable.

Registration for Skate KC 2020 is now open! Competition dates are April 2-5, 2020, at the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena. The registration deadline is February 23, 2020.

Again this year, we are offering IJS events for Pre-Juvenile through Senior short programs & free skates, all Excel Plus levels, and Excel Juvenile - Senior free skate events, and spins (Pre-Preliminary – Senior). This is a fantastic opportunity for skaters at various levels to get exposure to the IJS judging system.

Once again we will offer IJS critiques for Juvenile - Senior short programs & free skates. You must sign-up for these during registration!

We will also host a test session during the competition – exact dates and times will be determined once entries for the competition close. Sign up for testing here - the test session deadline is March 18, 2020.

Skate Kansas City 2020 will be held at Centerpoint Community Ice (Silverstein Eye Centers Arena) in Independence, Missouri, April 2-5, 2020.

Due to other activities in the building that weekend, we will only be running on the Community rink.

Skate Kansas City 2020 is a designated 2020 Excel Series competition. As an Excel Series event, skaters entered in the Series at eligible levels will earn points for their placement here in order to qualify for the National Festival to be held in Cleveland, Ohio, June 18-21, 2020.

Skate Kansas City 2020 will offer all Excel levels, Beginner - Senior.

Skaters must be registered for the Excel Series prior to competing at designated competition or by March 1. Additional information is available on U.S. Figure Skating’s Excel webpage. For any questions related to the Excel Series, please contact ExcelSeries@usfigureskating.org.
